Laura founder of This is Dyslexia in Kent

Thank you for stopping by my website. I am passionate about supporting neurodiverse learners, particularly those with dyslexia, to recognize and embrace their unique strengths and differences. My journey began with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia and a strong desire to provide comprehensive support and guidance to empower them in their educational and employment journey.

As an experienced teacher who has worked in schools and collaborated with learners and educators, I witnessed first-hand the struggles faced by individuals with dyslexia. I recognized the need for a dedicated platform that offers not only information and resources but also formal dyslexia assessments to help individuals gain a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.

My mission at 'This is Dyslexia' is to provide comprehensive support and guidance to individuals with dyslexia, empowering them to overcome challenges and thrive on their educational journey and in the workplace. I believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and am committed to creating an inclusive environment where dyslexic individuals are recognized, supported, and celebrated for their unique abilities and strengths.

My vision is for 'This is Dyslexia' to be a one-stop-shop for individuals seeking information and resources related to dyslexia. My goal is to become a leading learning platform, offering not only formal dyslexia assessments but also educational content that empowers individuals with dyslexia to embrace their differences and succeed in the workplace and their academic pursuits.

I believe in empathy, understanding the challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia and approaching their needs with compassion. Trust is of utmost importance, as I strive to build strong relationships with clients and ensure their confidence in the services I offer. Collaboration is key, as we work together with individuals, educators, and professionals to create a supportive network. My overarching aim is to empower individuals with dyslexia, helping them  to realize their potential and achieve their goals. It goes without saying that I treat everyone with respect, valuing their unique abilities and contributions.

Join me on this journey as we create a positive and empowering environment for individuals with dyslexia. Together, we can make a difference and celebrate the unique abilities and strengths of dyslexic individuals.

In addition to my practical experience, I have also contributed to various media features, sharing my knowledge and insights on Dyslexia. Through interviews, articles, and podcasts, I have raised awareness about the challenges faced by dyslexic individuals and highlighted the importance of early identification and intervention.

My commitment to empowering individuals with Dyslexia goes beyond the classroom. I continuously seek professional development opportunities to stay abreast of the latest research, interventions, and best practices in the field of Dyslexia and ADHD support

I keep up to date with training and am a member of PATOSS and The Dyslexia Guild, I also have an AMBDA and APC accreditation with The British Dyslexia Association and have extensive educational testing experience, including being registered with the British Psychological Society.
